Scan

The Scan screen has two directions — showing your code to a cashier, and scanning a shop's code yourself.

Why scanning exists

In a physical shop, the cashier needs to know who you are to apply or credit cashback. Your rotating QR code is the fastest way — the cashier scans it and your account is instantly linked to the transaction. No phone number to type, no name to spell.

Your code (show)

Your loyalty-scan QR code lets a cashier identify you and apply or credit cashback at the till.

How to show your code

  1. Open the Scan tab from the bottom navigation.
  2. Your QR code appears immediately.
  3. Tap the QR to enlarge it to full screen for easier scanning.

When to show your code

Every time you pay at a physical shop — even if you're paying cash. Showing your code ensures you earn cashback on the transaction.

Why the code rotates

The QR code rotates automatically (roughly every 30 seconds). A "life-of-the-code" bar drains toward empty and refills on each rotation, and the app never shows an expired code as live.

Rotation prevents someone from copying your code and using it later. The short lifetime means a photographed code is useless within seconds.

The 6-digit backup

The cashier may also ask for your 6-digit code — a typeable alternative to the QR. Use this when the camera can't scan (broken scanner, poor lighting, screen glare).

How to scan a shop's code

  1. Tap "Scan a code" to open the camera (native scanner on Telegram, or your phone camera on the web).
  2. Point it at a Bione shop code or QR to be routed to that shop.
  3. If the code isn't recognised, you'll see a gentle "not found" message.
  4. If your device doesn't support scanning, the app suggests updating.

When to scan a shop's code

  • Finding a shop quickly — if a shop has a QR on their door or window, scanning it takes you straight to their page.
  • Welcome bonus — some shops offer a bonus when you join via their QR. Scanning the shop's code is the trigger.

How scan & pay works (in-store)

Some shops offer an in-store "Scan & Pay" flow. This lets you build a cart by scanning product barcodes and pay on the spot.

Step 1 — scan items

Point the camera at a product's barcode (or type it) to add it to an in-store basket. The code resolves to the product, and you can also type a product's SKU.

Step 2 — review and pay

Review the basket and pay by card or cash, same as online.

Step 3 — pick up

The order is confirmed and you can pick up your items.

When to use scan & pay vs. online checkout

Scan & Pay when you're physically in the shop and want to skip the counter queue. Online checkout when you're ordering ahead for delivery or pickup.

Your in-store basket persists until you pay, so you can keep scanning as you gather items.
